Angel

Angel is an internationally known master tattooer who is a resident artist at our St. Mary's location in San Antonio. An expert in multiple styles, Angel is best known for his anime, black and grey and color realism, graphic illustrative, and watercolor...although there is no style that he is unfamiliar with.

How long have you been tattooing professionally (in a licensed shop)?
Over two decades.

What inspired you into the art of tattooing?
The tattoo became a natural extension of my passion for storytelling and visual arts. After studying graphic design, I realized that the tattoo allowed me to create permanent and deeply personal art that resonates on a more intimate level. The connection between the work of art and the person who carries it inspired me to pursue it professionally.

Tell us about the preferred style of your work?
To be honest, I elaborate almost all styles, this is because what I like is the drawing, the painting, the tattoo as an essence. But I feel a strong inclination for realism and the creepy macabre style.

What other styles are you known for?
I work very well with traditional Japanese, neotraditional, fine line and minimalism.

What inspires you as an artist?
I am inspired by my colleagues. I am inspired by art books. I am inspired by traveling. I am inspired by everything there is and what remains to be learned.

Why should someone pick you for their next tattoo/to be their artist?
Mainly for my experience, for the commitment that I manage not only when making the tattoo, but also from the creation of its design, the way in which I handle a correct composition in it to integrate your ideas into something beautiful.
